2013 Annual C-CAP Benefit
Not all food events are alike. Some have great food and then there are some leave you with a bad taste in your mouth so to speak. Of course, they’re all for a good cause, which is what matters. But C-CAP’s annual benefit is one of our all-time favorites and not just because the food is excellent. (It is!) This unique organization provides scholarships to underserved youth who demonstrate talent in the kitchen. (They’ve awarded over 37 million dollars in scholarships already!)
This year, they’re honoring restaurateur Tony May who changed the dining landscape of New York when he opened iconic Italian San Domenico in 1983. Some of the city’s most celebrated chefs will be cooking for the occasion, including Dovetail’s John Fraser, Porterhouse’s Michael Lomonaco, Scarpetta’s Scott Conant, Telepan’s Bill Telepan, & Torrisi’s Mario Carbone and Richard Torrisi. What’s on the menu? We begged for a sneak peek and we got one. Jonathan Waxman’s (Barbuto) making Gnocchi with Walnut Pesto, Alexa Ray of North End Grill fame has dreamt up a Key Lime Cheesecake with Sour Cream Gelee, and Mario Carbone & Rich Torrisi are cooking up a Duck Terrine with Mulberry Mustard.
Seeing as it’s such a great cause, we’re going to buy two tickets to auction off on Restaurant Girl. All you have to do to enter is sign up for Restaurant Girl’s Weekly Newsletter here… The winner will be announced on February 23th!
