Where to Buy Your Thanksgiving Pies
If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner at home this year (or spending it at someone else’s), consider saving yourself the trouble of crimping dough or pre-baking pastry shells. That’s because NYC is absolutely glutted with spots serving incredibly innovative, artisanal pies, including Bien Cuit, Butter & Scotch, Momofuku Milk Bar and more. So if you really want to make an impression this holiday, go ahead and place your order now, for apple-lined, pumpkin-filled and pecan-topped treats!
Bien Cuit
Even though this adored Boerum Hill bakery just came out with a cookbook, no one will fault you if you just go straight to the source, rather than attempting to execute their Cocoa Nib Pecan or Pumpkin Caramel Pies yourself. Bien Cuit will actually be open from 7am-noon on Thanksgiving Day, but pre-orders for each $35 pie are highly suggested — so place a call by 11/23 latest, for a last minute pickup!
Butter and Scotch
These boozy bakers are fond of spiking their treats with a liberal dose of booze; such as the best-selling Bourbon Ginger Pecan Pie, rich with local maple syrup and the finest top-shelf whiskey. Although teetotalers might appreciate other, more abstemious options, such as Caramel Apple, Pumpkin Spice or sticky S’mores Pie, filled with milk chocolate ganache and toasted marshmallow fluff. So don’t worry because there’s something for everyone at this Crown Heights shop, which got its start at Smorgasburg and took off in a big way!

Even if you’re not the only guest assigned to dessert, we can pretty much guarantee you’d be the only one toting Crack Pie. Stand out from the standard apple, pumpkin or pecan crowd by ordering one of these undeniably addictive desserts from Momofuku Milk Bar; a cross between a gooey butter cake and chess pie, poured into a toasted oat crust.

Choose from Banana Cream, Apple, Bourbon Pecan, Sweet Potato, Candy Bar, and Pear-Sour Cherry Pies, along with a tasty Coconut Macaroon option, for the inevitable gluten-free diner in your family.
