Aburiya Kinnosuke
New York
New York 10017
This is one of those places so good and so serene you want to keep it to yourself. A real deal izakaya in midtown Manhattan, Aburiya offers two very different dining experiences. There’s a robata counter in the back of the restaurant where you can watch the chefs man the grilled items or you can sit in seclusion in your own private room of sorts. Either way, you’ll want to get there on the early side if you want your choice of fresh whole fish steamed in sake, simmered or fried. (It’s up to you.) Don’t miss their petal soft tofu made daily in house, the fried lily root, or the karaage, Japanese for some of the best fried chicken in town.
Don’t Miss Dish: Fried lily root, homemade tofu, fried chicken, simmered fish of the day & sashimi.
End With: Head to Sakagura two blocks away for dessert!
Drink This: Shochu cocktails, Extensive sake selection
