Di Fara

This hole-in-the-wall pizza joint has bragging rights to one of the best slices in the city, and even the country. Nearly half a decade since he first opened the doors, owner Dom DeMarco is still behind the counter churning out handmade pizzas five days a week. No wonder he’s so grumpy: He dresses every pie himself with freshly cut basil, San Marzano tomatoes, Italian buffalo mozzarella and more. We suggest going early to avoid the epic lines and ordering a slice to hold you over while you wait for your pie. At $5 a slice, it ain’t cheap, but it’s worth it. Don’t Miss Dish: The Di Fara Special, square-cut pizza covered in tomato sauce and pepperoni; a white pie with artichokes
End With: Head across the street to Isaac’s Bakery for some Jewish sweets.
Drink This: This place is BYOB, so bring a bottle!
Price: $$
Occasion: Pizza pilgrimage, dining destination, casual bites.
