Peking Duck House
New York
NY 10013
If you’re an aficionado of Peking Duck, this Chinatown joint is a rite of passage. The epically large menu features regional cooking of Shanghai, Szechuan and Peking and there’s plenty worth trying. (Perhaps too much!) Their signature dish happens to be a flawless rendition. (Dare we say it’s one of the best in the city?!) The skin is crazy crispy and finely browned, the meat juicy and tender. It comes with a side of doughy pancakes, scallions, cucumber slices, and hoisin sauce. The best way to tackle this dish is the traditional way with the skin, and just the skin. Taste it on its own and then wrap it up in one of the pancakes and load it up with scallions, cucumber, and a dab of hoisin. In our opinion, Peking Duck is one of China’s greatest culinary gifts to the world and this is the place to revel in it.
